Conversion of Diesel Engines to BiFuel Engines

Abstract: ComAp’s simple bi-fuel conversion modifies your original diesel power generation engine so that it uses basically any type of gases such as natural gas, biogas, well / flare gas, landfill gas, propane gas, compressed natural gas (CNG) liquid natural gas (LNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as the main fuel - substantially reducing operating costs. It works by introducing gas into the engine and then electronically controlling gas flow dependent on engine speed and output. Our system includes a control system based with auto-adaptive capabilities that can save up to 70% of Diesel fuel.

Furthermore, there will be significant emission reductions from the engine (NOx, PM, SOx, CO2). These systems allow to reduce maintenance costs and activities as well as extend the life cycle of existing assets by:

  • Anti-Detonation Unit predicting knocking inside the combustion chambers
  • Measuring individual cylinder temperature
  • Monitoring individual cylinder heads during the operation on Gas
Engine converted on Bi-Fuel operation can also run completely on diesel fuel in case of any troubles with Gas line delivery which basically will enable complete duality of the converted engines. This leads to practical and proactive strategies to resource related downtime.

ComAp InteliBifuel solution with new algorithm is able to response on various gas quality to set up the optimal diesel/gas ratio to provide the best possible performance and safety during Bi-fuel operation.
