Wireless Field Instruments- Emerging trend

Wireless Communications

Abstract: Wireless sensor solutions are now being used in countless situations where it is necessary to monitor noncritical, remote, difficult, alerting, power constrain, and costly to reach locations, moving applications or slow data update rate type requirement, which are not Safety critical loop. Application of Wireless devices for NAMUR NE 124 “Class C” and IEC 62734 annex-c “Class 3 to 5” type category of Devices. Class 2 type application can be considered for very slow moving parameter in term of hours with due consideration of consequence analysis

Wireless Applications becoming popular in Process Industries

• Tank Gauging
• Steam Trap Monitoring
• Vibration monitoring for equipment where earlier monitoring was manual
• Corrosion monitoring
• Gas Monitoring during construction or shutdown
• PSV leakage monitoring
• etc.
